With coworkers, it’s important to keep things professional. If you’re friends outside of work, you can afford to be more casual, but for the majority of your workmates, keep it traditional. Remember that what may seem funny to you could be offensive to others. Also, avoid religious connotations and cards unless you’re absolutely certain of their faith. Pick up a pack of pre-printed birthday cards and keep them in your desk. Schedules have a tendency to get hectic, and we’ve all found ourselves realizing that we forgot a birthday. Don’t beat yourself up.
